What's the deal with Airbrushing?


Airbrushing is the newest and fastest growing makeup technique sweeping the nation in the bridal and fashion industry today.  Due to the latest technological advancements in camera and video equipment, makeup has had to evolve into a look that is perfected for High Definition Television, as well as digital photography.   The solution?   Welcome, the airbrush!

What is an airbrush?


Airbrushing transfers makeup to the skin by using a small pen like wand that gently sprays thousands of tiny little dots of liquid color per second onto the face, offering a beautifully blended look that is virtually flawless.  When used correctly, the result is a super lightweight makeup application that is sweat proof and smudge proof for up to 18 hours!  Now brides can feel free to dance the night away with confidence that her makeup will not run, smear, or disappear!  Jen is highly trained as a Certified Dinair Airbrush Specialist.

How does it look on the skin?


For those who do not necessarily need to cover, but simply want to look natural and even toned, the air pressure can be controlled to allow a more sheer application of makeup.  For others who may need a little more coverage, a slight adjustment in the air pressure will allow a bit more makeup to flow onto your face, providing you with more coverage where you need it, while still looking and feeling lightweight. 

What if I want to cover a scar or tattoo?


No problem.  The airbrush technique allows for perfect paramedical coverage.   This process is great at concealing port wine stains, hyperpigmentation, broken capillaries, heavy scarring, and even tattoos.  

Is it safe for my skin?


All airbrush products used by Jen are water based, hypoallergenic, and non-comedogenic, meaning it will not clog your pores.  It is safe for even the most sensitive of skins, and can easily be removed with soap and water.

What if I just don't want to be airbrushed? 


All makeup products Jen uses are professional grade quality products.  When not airbrushing, Jen prefers to stick to mineral makeup foundations.  The preferred mineral line Jen uses is Franche Mineral Cosmetics.  Other lines used range from MAC, Prescriptives, NARS, Makeup Forever, Trucco, and Cinema Secrets.

Do you offer trial consultations?

Absolutely!  Plan for about an hour and a half to allot for your trial consultation.  During this time, we will map out the exact look, colors and shades you envision for yourself on your wedding day.  Together you and Jen will create a concept by reviewing what will best compliment your skin tone and features, and then incorporate them into your bridal color scheme and overall vision for your big day.  Feel free to bring out magazine photos or images of a particular makeup style that you like, so that we are sure to achieve your ideal look.  (Includes a full airbrush makeup application).



 Is there a minimum amount required to book my wedding day?

Yes.  For all Saturday weddings, a two service minimum is required in order to reserve the requested wedding date.  This does not apply for weddings taking place on Fridays or Sundays.  HOWEVER, if you are booking Jen less than two weeks away from your wedding date and her Saturday is not yet filled, Jen can accommodate a single bridal application. 

How early should I book my wedding day makeup?

Jen accepts bridal bookings up to 12 months out, on a first come, first serve basis.  It is best to reserve your wedding day makeup right away, especially during high traffic wedding months, (March-June and Sept.-Nov.), to ensure that you get your date.  However, if your wedding is just around the corner and you have not yet reserved your date, Jen may still be able to accommodate you on short notice.


Do you offer bridal hair styling?

Yes!  Upon request, Jen will help you obtain a separate hairstylist to accommodate you for your wedding day.  By having a separate makeup artist and hairstylist, this allows multiple girls to be worked on at the same time, thus improving the time flow of your day, and also ensuring that you get someone who is a true specialist in their field.  All of Jen's recommended bridal hair stylists come with years of experience in some of Houston's finest salons, and are greatly skilled in the art of bridal updo's.  *Hairstylist must be paid by separate check at the time of service.

What all is included in my wedding makeup purchase?

Every bridal application also includes a complimentary application of individual false eyelashes,  complimentary chest, back, and shoulder bronzing, for the bridal portraits and wedding day makeup.  The bride will also receive as well as a sample of her lip color to keep with her during the night for re-application.  Additionally, Jen will also make sure all last minute lip touch ups are applied to you and your bridal party before leaving the event.


What do I need to do to reserve my wedding date?

If you would like to book Jen as your wedding day makeup artist, Jen may be contacted through email or by phone.  If your date is available, Jen will then send out a contract to you which is to be signed and returned by mail, along with a 50% non-refundable deposit on the number of applications being reserved.  Your date will not officially be reserved until the contract and deposit have been received, by which you will receive an email confirmation letting you know your wedding date is officially booked!



What forms of payment are accepted?

Jen accepts all payments by cash, personal check, or Pay Pal.  Bridal Portraits and Trial Runs are to be paid separately at the time services are rendered. Please make all checks payable to Jen Marine, thank you!

start getting regular facials at least two months prior to your wedding date to get your skin in tip top shape.


remember to have your brows properly groomed at least 5 days out from the wedding.  this will allow healing time for any adverse reactions the wax, and also allows time for your vellus hairs (the fine peach fuzz hairs) to grow back in around your eyebrows.  This way your makeup will lay the same on both the waxed and unwaxed areas of your skin. 

  make sure all your girls know and understand the scheduled wedding day timeline so that everyone is aware of where they need to be and at what time.

arrive to your makeup chair with a clean face, and tell your girls to do the same. 

bring good music to the hotel room or prep location.

try not to have too many people in the room at one time unless they are in your immediate party.  this will help keep the stress level in the room to a minimum.

make sure to designate a well lit area w/ table space and natural lighting for your application area when possible.
 
don't go overboard with the tanning bed, airbrush tan, or mystic tan booth.  tell this to your bridesmaids as well.  a row of beautiful women in a photo, interrupted by one orange bridesmaid in the middle, will really stand out in your photo!

make sure you eat sometime during the day while getting ready.  a little food in your stomach will keep your bloodsugar level in check.
